As the sun started to sink lower, the weather got much chillier. This did nothing to dampen the buoyant eagerness of our family puppy, Amber who loved every moment of playing fetch. Waiting expectantly for me to throw her toy, she dashed to retrieved it again and again with an energy that did not wan. Spilling mellow and warm, the evening light lingered softly on a mourning dove, who cooed as it perched high among the branches, then took off in flight with another into the fading blueness of the sky.
Patches light danced on the siding of our neighbors house and shone along the tops of pines.
Quiet moments during sunrise and sunsets are sweet bits of treasure there for us to gather. In Psalms, we are given these beautiful time–at the fresh start of a day until its close–as a beautiful illustration to praise the name of the Lord continually.
From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD’S name is to be praised. The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens. Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high, Who humbleth himself to behold the things that are in heaven, and in the earth! –Psalm 113:3-6
