A common misconception rippling through society is that singleness is a place of bareness; and that beginning life halts until you have someone to share your dreams with.
I’ve tripped over this too many times to count.
But, ever so gradually, the Lord has allowed me to grasp something quiet different.
Abundance.
The sun was slipping away beneath the western horizon.
Camera in hand, I was eager to capture it all.
Rays glinting on waters–giving the appearance of liquid gold.
Gulls gliding overhead–the sunset reflecting upon their wings.
Delighted, I whispered prayers to the Lord, asking that He would open my eyes to everything He wanted me to see. That I would not miss anything.
And do you know what He did?
He satisfied my heart with an abundance of His exquisite handiwork.
Gift upon gift continued to be lavished upon me…
Jet streams blazing like shooting stars.
Clouds, infused with a fuchsia and lavender and gold vibrancy.
That evening, I learned afresh that His love is adequate for my every longing desire.
Rejoicing in Him proved absolutely enough. I was contented.
“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.” Psalm 107:8 & 9 via
Singleness is not barren or lonely or depleted of things to rejoice over.
It is a time for growth and enjoyment of beauty the Lord gives. A time for abundance.
Amen! I’ve found that to be true as well! Thanks for a lovely and refreshing post!
